Thank You Day 2022

Thank You Day 2022

Countdown and Strictly star Rachel Riley will be inviting @schools children to design and create the bunting that will decorate Britain’s biggest ever thank you party at the climax of the Queen’s Jubilee celebrations in June.

Thank You Day is aiming to mobilise more than 10 million people to take part in the day - the culmination of the long Jubilee weekend - on Sunday 5 June by sharing a Big Jubilee Lunch, taking part in sporting events, concerts and a range of other community celebrations. Friends, families, neighbours and communities will get together to raise a glass to The Queen for 70 years of outstanding service, and say a great big thank you to each other as well.

Rachel Riley is leading calls for tens of thousands of schools across the UK to join the fun and design and create their own bunting for the day. Every class in the country is being asked to create a line of their own thank you bunting, and in the week before half term display it outside their school to get the nation in the mood. Some of the most striking bunting will be used to bring the whole country to life - decorating everything from bandstands and community halls, to railway stations and hospital wards – with some very special pieces being chosen to be chosen to be displayed at Tate Britain, home of some of the nation’s greatest masterpieces.

The Together Coalition, which includes the NHS, the Church of England, the Scouts, the National Association of Head Teachers, the Association of School and College Leaders, is inviting children to design their own square of bunting with their own special message for someone they would like to thank – whether that’s a teacher, a friend or sibling, or even the Queen as she celebrates 70 years on the throne.
