As part of the Well School evaluation run by the University of Manchester we are inviting all schools who are part of the Well School community to support the research by completing a single online school survey. This is an opportunity to share practice as part of your Well Schools journey and contribute to research evaluating factors which contribute to the success of Well Schools, with potential to inform practice among other schools.
We are solely reliant on the goodwill of schools to take the time to support this research, and we thank you for your important contribution.
Further detail on how to complete this survey can be found below.

What is the aim of the project?
A Well School places just as much emphasis on wellbeing as it does on academic performance. It understands that children and young people are more effective learners when they are happy and well and that they must take care of their staff and their pupils’ wellbeing to create a culture that allows everyone to reach their potential.
Our team at The University of Manchester are running a piece of research to understand what a Well School looks like. This school survey is part of a larger project evaluating Well Schools and informing practice.
What is involved in taking part?
We are inviting all schools who have signed up to the Well School Community to complete a school implementation survey. This survey is designed to determine aspects of practice within your school with regard to supporting staff and student wellbeing and related areas. There will be a tick box questions and short text open questions. The survey should take about 30 minutes to complete.
This data is important to help us understand the variety of schools taking part in Well Schools, and the different things they are doing as part of their approach and what is affecting this. This will help shape guidance and recommendations for other schools, and the development of the Well Schools community.
What is are the benefits of taking part?
- An opportunity to be involved in important research evaluating factors which contribute to the success of Well Schools, with potential to inform practice among other schools and MATs.
- A chance to highlight and share practice of being a Well School, as well as an opportunity to celebrate experiences of being a Well School.
